For my third week on Fashion Magazine‘s Style Panel, we were tasked with styling a vintage-filled look and also figuring out what our one piece of advice to give vintage beginners would be.
My main tip if you’re entirely new to it is to head to the accessories department: belts, bags, clutches and jewellery are all such easy ways of incorporating a bit of vintage into your look, and they’re the easiest things to hunt for if you’re thrifting too.
Another easy way of shopping vintage is to head over to a vintage retailer like Shoppalu since they do the dirty work of sourcing and finding all the vintage treasures for you. I’ve worn these high-waisted, tapered peach pants about a gazillion times (here and here on the blog) – that’s the other great thing about vintage, a lot of the silhouettes work well for hourglass shapes.
GUESS WHAT?! My mamammia and papappia are coming to visit me (I don’t actually ever call them that but I should really start)!!! I think I’ve started terrifying them a bit with my excessive planning of the weekend but I’m really super excited. They’ve both been to TO before (they lived out east) but since this is my new home for now, I’m particularly excited to tour them around the places that have become my favourite spots in the short amount of time I’ve been here. Definitely on the list: the Distillery District, Yorkville and hopefully we can get to the Toronto Islands too. Yippee!!!!!!

I definitely agree with you on starting out with accessories when you're new to vintage shopping. I am pretty new myself, started less than a year ago (always thought it smelled too gross) and I started out with accessories as well. Now I quite love it, especially because you can find such unique items. Like these pants you're wearing! Love everything about them, especially the color.
