Lost and Found

Aldo booties, Zara coat, J.Crew top, vintage clutch,
Wilfred skirt c/o Aritzia, Persol sunnies c/o SmartBuyGlasses Canada

This coat has a bit of a funny story...I got it maybe three years ago out of pure desperation (I think I was stuck downtown in appointments or something all day and thought it'd be warmer out than it was and was shivering away in a cardigan) and never really grew to love it. After that winter, I stored it away and completely forgot about it until I chanced upon it last month while trying to find this vintage parka. For whatever reason, this hooded, graphic coat was suddenly far more appealing to me than it had ever been before. I've ended up getting tons of use out of it this winter and it's become one of my most-circulated and loved cold-weather pieces. I don't know if it was a taste shift, an openness to getting more creative with my closet or maybe just the fact that I really was in desperate need of another addition to the winter-wear roster this year, but at any rate, I'm happy that it's found a new and reinvigorated role in my closet.

Have you ever randomly had a reignited love affair with a once-cast-away piece?

PS talking about much-worn pieces, I'm wearing my beloved Persol sunnies yet again...for a chance to win your very own Persols, check out yesterday's giveaway! ***UPDATE*** Just wanted to let you all know that SmartBuyGlasses has very kindly extended entry eligibility to all readers, so whether you're in Canada or Romania, you're all eligible to enter!

  4. All right, pally, I'm going to be blunt - when I get home, I am borrowing this entire outfit from you. That's right, you don't really have a choice. It's too perfect and I want to wear it, too :D I wish I could say the same about cast-off pieces, I tend to get overwhelmed by having too much stuff since I never have a lot of storage space at my disposal and purge pretty regularly. It's mostly good, but every once in a while I think back and go, you know, I really should have kept that, I'd love to have it now. C'est la vie, I guess. Miss you, girl!

These days I'm trying hard to save money while paying down the mortgage, so re-igniting my love of forgotten pieces needs to become a regular habit!

  19. As my style has evolved, I've definitely reignited the flame with a few old cast-offs. At first I'm so excited because it's like having a brand new item to play with, but then I'm disappointed because of all the lost time and missed opportunities ha! Yep, I'm an emotional roller coaster I tell you! You look perfect head to toe, as always! XO
