It's hard to believe these pictures were taken well over a month ago - I'm sitting here in Cork, Ireland, getting ready to take off to the Blarney Castle (you better believe I'm kissing the stone - gotta have that gift of the gab!) and all of a sudden, I just realized I have less than two weeks left before I come home. Gutted. Realizing that Amsterdam was quite some time ago and that I've got such a small amount of time left before I go back to reality is a bit of a shock to the system, quite frankly. Having said that, it's really impossible to be entirely mopey given what an incredible couple of months it's been. As mentioned in my last Amsterdam travel diary, this leg of the trip in Amsterdam was truly one of my most special experiences, especially this beautiful day spent touring the city by bike. Up until this Europe trip, I'd never even stayed in a hostel before. Most of my prior travels were through Canada or the States, where hotels were always my first choice. However, as a solo female traveller making my way alone through countries with unfamiliar cultures and languages, hostels have become my best friend. With a bit of careful research and some prep work, your stay in a hostel can be as nice as any hotel plus you get the added advantage of a bit more security (more people has meant more safety for me so far!) and a new pack of friends at each of your destinations - something that's very important when you're on your own and want to explore a new city with some company. Click through to read my 7 cardinal rules for staying at hostels in style and get planning for your next trip abroad!

Sometimes, you love a picture not because you look particularly good in it (because let's face it, I look a little worse for wear in this one), but because of the memory or moment it captures. As you might remember from Monday's post, I went to Germany earlier to visit Christin, my best friend from high school. If there's one place that most captured a fairytale feel throughout my entire Europe trip, the beautiful town of L├╝beck, Germany definitely took the cake. With its dramatic Black Gothic architecture, famous seven churches, forest-lined parks along the river Trave and the fact that it's the birthplace of mouthwatering marzipan (a trip to Niederegger is an absolute must), the town honestly felt like other than a few modern additions (cars, cell phones, modern shopping malls, etc), it had been preserved as it was for centuries. Fall is quickly descending upon Europe and as I travel across the continent, I'm constantly trying to pull together looks that are not only stylish, but also weather-appropriate (it's really getting chilly!) while also remaining completely comfortable. Long days spent on the plane or train coupled with hours exploring new cities means that as much as I want to look my best, I also absolutely need something I can wear for hours on end, particularly on lazy weekends when I'm not up for making trips back to the hotel to change. Thankfully, I found my answer to the style vs. comfort conundrum by finding something that offers a perfect balance between the two: Maurices' amazing new fall denim! Click through to read more!

I wasn't even a full week into my travels when I landed in the grey, beautiful city of Dublin and upon my arrival, I was feeling a weighty mixture of things. I had had such a great time in London but like most other people who have gotten out of their comfort zone with a bit of a longer trip, some little anxieties, worries and frustrations had crept in. Leaving my sister and a sense of familiarity behind really made the trip feel "real" and in all honesty, I was a bit nervous. Sure enough though, it was as if Dublin had already started "taking the piss out of me" as soon as I landed because as I was on the shuttle to meet my friend Amanda, the sky literally opened up with the hardest downpour I've ever experienced. Pretty much all that went through my head was ".......shit." Little did I know that this was less of a bad sign and more of an amazingly cheeky, teasing joke to kick off my stay in a city that I would quickly fall in love with - click through to read more!
