Three Day Beachy Hair

I have the finest hair – like hold-it-all-up-with-one-bobby-pin fine hair. Needless to say, getting my naturally straight hair to hold a curl can be a bit tricky, but fortunately, I discovered this little thing called double-baking that completely changed my life (at least, my life as it pertains to my hair). It’s an equally effective technique for any hair type though, so read on to discover how you can do beach hair for days!

First step: divide your air-dried hair into even, relatively large sections. This isn’t about getting tight curls, so depending on how fine/thick your hair is, gauge the sections so that you’re getting a curl but it doesn’t tiptoe into corkscrew territory. For me, that means splitting my hair into about 8 sections.

With a clipless curling iron wand (I’m using José Eber here, love their products), curl away from your face leaving about an inch or two loose at the tips. I have my curler set to 170 and I hold it for about 8-10 seconds.

Once you release the curling iron, reshape the curl while it’s still hot and hold it until it cools down.

Complete your whole head, ensuring that you curl in the opposite direction for the other side of your face.

Now here’s the most important step! This is the double-bake: spin the already-formed curl back around the iron, holding it on for only 4-5 seconds or so. Release, reshape and hold the curl again until it cools.

Once you’ve double-baked your whole head and your curls are cool, finger-comb your hair to loosen up the curls and give it a more casual, beachy vibe. Personally, I prefer to steer away from product when I’m trying to keep the style for a couple days since my hair’s too fine and becomes weighed down easily, but if you need it, this would be when you would spritz on some hairspray!

After the double-bake, this is the second most important step – whip yo hair back and forth! Seriously, this is what adds the volume and body to the curls.

Et voilà! With a bit of dry shampoo, another hair toss and a bit of reshaping, your double-baked curls will last for days!

See? The fact that my hair even has a slight wave three days later is shocking. I’m telling you, I have straight straight hair and this is the absolute best way of achieving curls for days.
Give it a go and let me know how it goes for you guys!
