As much as I’m a big believer in talking things out and unleashing issues that otherwise weigh you down, I think there’s something to be said for also keeping some things “in running order” when you’re going through something. For me, blogging is something that really helps in this respect. While I’m never shy to open up and have always been met with support and kindness here when I do, it’s kind of relieving to also be able to just show you guys what I’ve been wearing lately and talk fashion.
No need to get into details (and certainly no need to worry!) but the past week has just been a bit more emotionally taxing than usual with an amalgamation of different personal matters. That’s why it’s so lovely and so refreshing to be able to hop on the laptop today and just talk stripes and specs, i.e. my special melding of nerdy-meets-nautical! The sweater-and-glasses combo has become a heavily relied upon one during the work week lately, especially since apparently I’ve aged 20 years in the past month and all of a sudden, my eyes can’t take contact lenses week-in-week-out anymore. As for the cozy sweater obsession, well…I can’t speak for everyone, but when it comes to me, comfort trumps style when life gets a little messy. That and as I mentioned before, something about this month has significantly aged me. I’m thisclose to setting up my own quilt knitting club, wish I was joking.
On another note, it’s funny how I used to avoid being seen in public with glasses on at all costs…I don’t know if it’s just the fact that I’m evidently old all of a sudden or that I’ve just found a couple frames that work, but I actually look forward to the days when I have an exercise rest day so that I can wear my glasses (foggy glasses + running = accident-prone disaster). Like sunglasses or any other really great accessory, they just totally change an outfit. I’ve had a lot of great luck with Clearly Contacts (who I got the pleasure of curating a collection with this past summer!) in finding frames: from the Derek Cardigan frames I wore the other day to these Oliver and Mac frames I’m wearing today, I have a solid set that now gets put into heavy rotation. If you aren’t 20/20 like me and have trouble finding frames that suit, keep at it…now that I have a few to love it’s really helped me see (pun intended, obvs) how I can style my wardrobe in a whole multitude of different ways.
Thanks for being my unwitting style outlets/therapists for the day, guys! Hope you’re all having lovely (and slightly more straightforward!) weeks.

Hope this week gets better for you, darling! Blogging during tough times can either be incredibly frustrating/frivolous or can be the perfect release, so I am glad it's the latter for you! I am loving the color & cut of this skirt! So pretty. And I am a daily contact wearer, also… anytime I wear glasses I feel like I am fully announcing to the world "I am too tired to cope with today!" – bahahaha. I think it's that I only put them on when I can't handle putting contacts in, sorta like you put on yoga pants when you can't handle real clothes, so I always feel a little frumpy in them. Which is funny, because on everyone else they look adorable and stylish, LIKE YOU! xo!
