On me: Obakki dress, heels c/o Sole Society

Here’s Part 2 of my beautiful friend Lily and I’s Glitter Guide feature! While I love our green look earlier this week, this one somehow feels more true to us. I think it’d be safe to say that both Lily and I are…fiery. We’re not exactly what you would call shrinking violets and so it only made sense to focus on a tonal red look (which is incidentally our favourite colour!).
Red is the ultimate to me. It’s badass, feminine, strong and somehow classic all at the same time. I’ll never forget my dad telling me to wear red soccer socks during my first gold league try-out – he told me it would get me noticed. Sure enough, though it was not a fashion statement, it got me on the gold team and I still turn to this advice whenever I want to be remembered.
While you can work red into your look in more subtle ways, I love wearing a timeless silhouette like this Obakki dress in this vivid tone. It’s a great mix of impact and accessibility – like other standout colours or prints, focusing on more classic styles definitely helps make them more wearable.
Also completely in love with Lily‘s red-on-red look – how perfect is that peplum shape on her? Head on over to Glitter Guide to see the full feature and to hear more about how we first met, what we love about each other’s style and how this shoot came about! A big thank you again to the amazing Christie Graham for this shoot – if you’re ever in need of a great photographer in Vancouver, I can not say enough good things about her. Such a pro and such a sweet person to work with too.
Hope you all have the most amazing weekend! This is a busier one but at least one of the days will be busy celebrating one of my best friend‘s birthdays (i.e. we’re day drinking all Sunday on my patio). Can not wait.
