After a temporary spell of sunshine, Vancouver has been cast in this thick blanket of grey clouds for days now, with pretty persistent rain adding to the gloom. This look was not only shot on one of our most grey days, but right at dusk as Alicia and I were quickly losing light (as much as it’s starting to feel a bit more springlike, we’re still definitely in winter mode light-wise!). It’s got that gritty, low-light quality to it that I usually hate, but something about the retro vibes of my 70s-driven look seems to suit the kind of lo-fi quality of the pics. Speaking of lo-fi, since I’ve been spending so much time avoiding the rain and listening to my favourite tunes inside while I get to work, I thought I’d share some of my favourites! I can’t say I’m altogether upset by the fact that it’s been so rainy and gloomy at the very least because I have a lot to prep and get done before I head off to Maui this Sunday! Be sure to follow along with the hashtag #mauiorbust on Instagram as I share our adventures from the island. Maui’s like my family’s other home away from home (our first one being our cabin on the Sunshine Coast, one of my happiest places in the world), and I love that our adventures there are so low-key. Excited to just surf, read, relax and eat a lot of papaya, pineapple and passion fruit – all my favourite P’s!
In the meantime, I’ll be working away to this playlist of my current faves below, ranging from lo fi garage to some older punk to an awesome Wilco x Billie Bragg collab cover of Willie Nelsons’ “California Stars.” Hope you guys like it!
