Even if you don’t observe Easter, it’s hard not to find something to love about the holiday. The pastel tones, the occasion to dress up and most of all…the chocolate. My parents put on the most epic easter egg hunts every year (even now that we’re all fully grown adults) and there’s nothing I love more than tearing up our house to then feast on chocolate and candy until my stomach aches (though then again, that’s really just a typical Friday night for me, but whatever). Naturally, when my friend and frequent collaborator Ainsley of Ainsley Rose Photography asked if Alicia and I wanted to take part in an Easter tea shoot, the answer was a resounding yes! So excited that this dream of a shoot is now up on Style Me Pretty and if you click through, you can catch even more snaps after the jump (and yes, it’s photo-heavy)!
This shoot came together in the space of a few days under the direction of Cris from Fluent Productions – so much talent in one small studio space (all members of the dream team are below!). I was desperately in search of the perfect piece for this shoot when I stumbled upon a snap of my dream dress by Barefoot Contessa, one of my favourite boutiques in the city. I don’t like to pick favourites but this has to be the most special piece in my closet now (maaaay be wearing it again for my birthday in T-9 days). I love that it is such an elegant homage to the traditional pastel hues of Easter without feeling twee, all with a distinct nod to Dior’s classic silhouettes. Barefoot Contessa still has it in stock so if you’re in the Vancouver area, run (do noooot walk) to pick up your own! Was so excited to work with the lovely and talented makeup artist Denise Elliott as well – I find I just don’t have the face for strong beauty looks but Denise managed to achieve the perfect balance between polished and fresh-faced, absolutely loved working with her! And of course, my girl Alicia was looking stunning as usual in pink, and the fact that her dress had a cape as well was beyond amazing.
Be sure to check out the full feature on Style Me Pretty for more Easter inspiration and a special thank you to the whole team below for all their talent and for being so great to work with!

Oh and Happy April Fool’s Day!!! I’m kind of over the traditional trickery of this day after maybe going too far too many years in a row (there’s one year in particular that my parents will never forgive me for) but good luck to all of you pulling off tricks today :).
