Lately, I’ve been flashing from freezing cold to suffocatingly hot within the space of seconds, and then I cycle through this pattern about fifteen times a day. My new Style Piques! cape has become the perfect companion as I journey into what is obviously early onset menopause (obviously). I can layer underneath to stay warm or tear off a layer and just wear the cape on its own. Not to mention the silhouette is adorable.
Also loving the retro 60’s vibe of this cape as it has given me the perfect opportunity to finally debut my vintage Shoppalu pumps! If you haven’t been by Shoppalu yet, then make a visit! The lovely ladies of Shoppalu always have a beautifully curated and updated collection of both new and vintage pieces online. And they’re just nice people…always a plus.
So I just realized Valentine’s Day is right around the corner….aaaand I definitely don’t have anything planned gift-wise. I don’t really like Valentine’s as a general rule (and our four year anniversary is ten days after V-Day anyway) so I’m not really beating myself up too much, but I guess I should have something prepared for Matt. I’m not really the best when it comes to gift-giving (I’m more of a taker, not a giver…just being honest), so any suggestions are more than welcome. Help me people!

Gorgeous cape with your new pumps. I have to check out their website too. Love that 60's vibes. Valentines' Day, to me, is for "kids" who are in their early dating stages when everything is sweet sweet and dreamy. I am not a big fan of it either. Think it's too widely commercialized these days.

Hey dear, I adore the cape, the shape is perfect. Most people would keep it plain so I like that you added your own twist with a a pretty print scarf. The pumps are gorgeous, lovely colour. Good luck with the V-day gift buying, I am not one for the holiday myself. Maybe something handmade by you would be more special – like personal date/DVD night vouchers?

Ahaha you are hilarious 🙂 Yes, it always sounds awkward, but I can't stop either! I say a nice date night where you plan it for him is always fun. My hubby and I like eating, and going away for the weekend- so ours usually includes something like that. But he's purty easy- happy as long as we've got movies and popcorn in the mix 🙂

lool, I have similar experience, but its mainly due to the 2 extreme we experience, the cold weather outside and over-using the heater (whether at home or in my office). Love the cape and shoes btw.
This cape is so lovely on you! It looks so cozy! And I have the haaardest time with Valentines day gifts… I usually default to making him a big breakfast, knowing that he'll likely take me out for dinner, and then sometimes if we can think of gifts we'll get something… Shawn gave me a plant a couple years ago (as they last longer than flowers, says my practical boyfriend) which I took as our love plant. I think I've done the generic cologne thing. I bought him a board game one year, but that ended up feeling kind of lame! Haha, this just confirms I'm terrible at V-day gifts! Good luck!

Sounds serious, pally 😉 You're looking lovely in spite of your early ascent into middle age, that cape really is something – I saw this post earlier today and it officially convinced me to join Style Piques 🙂 I love that you paired it with those gorgeous Shoppalu heels. I remember sitting in Janice's kitchen eating the dumplings her grandma made when you got them. Oh, blogger fun.
As for V-day, well, in our house it's just another excuse to eat pastry. Which we really don't need, anyway. Still, I vote edible gift. No one is ever disappointed by chocolate.
